Graduate Training Programme

The GOODYEAR GRADUATE TRAINING PROGRAMME is based on a comprehensive and well-structured Human Resources Development Programme and forms part of the overall strategic business plan of the company.

Graduates who participate in the programme will not only be exposed to a prestigious international company, but will also have the privilege of learning from top professionals with specialist knowledge and skills.

A key objective of the programme is to ensure that Goodyear secures a competitive advantage by attracting young, topflight and dynamic individuals with the correct skills into the organisation. In doing so the company is committed to the creation of a fully supportive environment, which will ultimately ensure the success of graduates who participate in the programme.

As much of the future success of Goodyear South Africa will be largely dependent on the contributions made by its graduate trainees, the company guards this investment by providing graduates with the information, guidance, training and support they will need to optimally contribute to the strategic objectives of the company.

A cornerstone of the programme is the appointment of mentors and coaches with sufficient authority, a sound knowledge of the job content, the necessary skills required, and who also have empathy, thus creating a conducive environment in which the graduate will work.

The Goodyear Graduate Training Programme is benchmarked to world-class standards and is underpinned by the principle of shared responsibility between the company and participants for their growth and development. The programme includes the following activities:

- A comprehensive induction to the company.

- Full exposure to the broader value chain activities of the organisation.

- Carefully planned rotational training programmes.

- Specific in- and off-company training identified in accordance with needs assessments.

- Structured developmental experiences including job assignments and participation in task forces.

- Training activities focused on real business challenges.

- Actual on-the-job assignments.

- Outward bound teambuilding initiatives.

To identify the strengths and interests of participants and to measure their progress, regular assessments are conducted throughout the duration of the programme. Such assessments include formal and performance appraisals, self-evaluations, and feedback sessions.

Upon completion of the programme, graduates should be equipped to assume exciting and rewarding careers in any organisation.
