Geneva, Switzerland, February 28, 2006 - The automotive industry is increasingly refocusing its sights from the passive safety technologies of the past few years to new active safety technologies hitting the market. As passive crash protection safety gear (such as seatbelts, airbags...) has become standard in most modern cars, manufacturers are now concentrating on incorporating active safety features such as RunOnFlat tyres.

Geneva, Switzerland, February 28, 2006 - In racing, time is the enemy. When America's most successful racing organization, the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) asked Goodyear to assist in leveling the playing field for the NASCAR competitors, Goodyear responded with a new time-saving solution - a tiny Radio Frequency Identification chip (RFID), which tracks each tyre from the manufacturing facility to the track, through distribution to the teams and upon its return after the race.
