Wolverhampton, March 17th 2009. Goodyear Dunlop has announced a new logistics operation designed to offer best-in-class service to fleet and tyre dealer customers across Europe.
This Optimised Logistics Operation means that tyres will be shipped directly from the manufacturing plant to the customers' premises, eliminating the need to store and consolidate stock at National Distribution Centres in each country.
For truck tyre retreads, the company has announced that their Wolverhampton plant will be the primary logistics hub for UK and international customers ordering the latest acclaimed Goodyear TreadMax and Next Tread truck tyres.
Approximately 3,000 truck tyres will be stored at any one time in Wolverhampton for swift delivery to Goodyear customers, a network of dealers and fleets that stretches from Russia to Portugal.
Travis Brown, Customer Strategy Manager stated: "We see logistics, including delivery and ease of ordering, to be a key competitive advantage that Goodyear Dunlop can claim over our rivals. By simplifying the supply chain, we aim to achieve the goal of getting the right tyre to the right customer, on the right truck, in a much shorter timescale"
In addition to opening the distribution hub at Wolverhampton, Goodyear Dunlop has also invested in dedicated Contact Centre Specialists and introduced Service Level Agreements for their customers. "This is a very visible sign of our commitment to delivering the highest service standards in the truck tyre industry" added Travis.
