Wolverhampton, March 17th 2009 – TreadMax, Goodyear's latest retread concept with all the Max Technology benefits of a new tyre, is now available. Goodyear is setting a new industry standard in truck tyre retread quality with the introduction of TreadMax. TreadMax is the latest retread product-line in the Goodyear Max Technology tyre generation. It can best be described as a remanufactured tyre and provides an extra dimension to the extended life of truck tyres. This new product combines Goodyear Max Technologies in a retread that is equal in performance to a new Max Technology tyre.
The current economic climate coupled with the high cost of fuel, increase the importance of TreadMax. This new product can potentially achieve the same economical fuel consumption and mileage performance as the best Goodyear new tyre. "Every operator wants the best possible value for money, particularly today. TreadMax not only extends the life of Goodyear's top-performing tyres but also extends their performance in terms of mileage and fuel consumption," said Danny Van Essche, Retread Manager EU for Goodyear Dunlop Tyres Europe BV. "TreadMax tyres use only Goodyear Max Technology casings along with the same materials and tread patterns as used in our latest generation of new tyres. This means that TreadMax tyres have the same benefits as new tyres, giving lower operating costs and environmental benefits too." Goodyear's aim is to produce a retread tyre that is equal to a new tyre in terms of performance, reliability and appearance. Max Technology carcasses have been specifically designed for their robustness and damage resistance to ensure that under normal conditions they are suitable for top grade retreading. Available sizes:

TreadMax RHD II with KMax Technology
The TreadMax RHD II, just like the Goodyear Regional RHD II tyre, has been specifically developed to suit today's wide range of regional haul applications. The TreadMax's performance replicates that of the Regional RHD II tyre, which offers improved mileage, compared to its predecessor, as well as shorter wet stopping distances and improved fuel consumption.
TreadMax LHD II with FuelMax Technology
TreadMax LHD II offers the same performance as the Goodyear Marathon LHD II. Both tyres feature FuelMax Technology, which is an advanced technology from Goodyear. Key to this is an innovative high-silica tread compound generation combined with specifically designed tread patterns. These help further reduce rolling resistance, which in turn improves fuel consumption.
Goodyear Retread Technology
Goodyear Retread Technology is the company's philosophy to continuously lower operator costs by providing a solution that offers a cradle to grave system, which respects the environment.
Retread Technology starts with new tyre development through cooperation with OE customers and truck operators. The latest compounds, design and casing technology ensure the maximum number of lives of the tyre.
The Goodyear quality retread process brings out the best to re-create the performance of a new tyre, that is: same performance, same reliability.
Goodyear Retread Technology has environmental benefits too. Extending the life of the tyre means that valuable raw materials are saved, fewer chemicals are used and there is a reduction in the number of casings that have to be disposed of. As well as this the performance of the TreadMax tyre means that less fuel is used and the mileage is likely to exceed that of other retread products. These savings therefore represent a reduction in CO2 emissions from improved fuel consumption, a reduction in materials used, reduced manufacturing processes, a reduced need for disposal and above all less cost to the customer.
Retreading is regarded by Goodyear as an essential element in lowering costs for the end user. Goodyear tyres can be regrooved after first use and after retreading, which means maximum lives. Depending on the application, multiple retreading may be recommended. Goodyear's retreading process restores the geometry and the footprint to that of a new tyre and guarantees the highest reliability.
TreadMax tyres will be produced in the Goodyear retreading plants in Riom, France and Wolverhampton, UK, which have recently undergone a major investment program featuring the newest high-tech equipment.
TreadMax tyres will complement the Goodyear range of NextTread retread products for trucks. NextTread offers a wide range of moldcure and precure retreads.
